it's been ages since i did this. it's been quite a busy time one way and another.
tuesday was our very first anniversary. we celebrated with cocktails at The Sanderson and then a rather excellent dinner at Andrew Edmunds in Lexington Street. ice cold fino. serrano ham/black pudding : rib-eye steak/duck confit : sticky toffee pudding/cheese board : bottle of Chablis. the perfect evening. i can't wait for the year ahead....
certain deranged individuals decided to terrorise the area around my work. luckily i wasn't well on the thursday morning so wasn't travelling into work at the time the devices went off. thank the lord i have a dubious colon otherwise you might not be reading this at all. russell square tube is a spit away from my office and woburn place is no more than 3 minutes walk away... to think that usually my greatest dilemma in the morning is whether to get the bus or take the tube...? makes you think doesn't it. phone calls and e-mails flew back and forth from concerned friends and family but no one i know of got caught up in it, though one of my friends work colleagues is still in hospital after being on one of the underground trains... russell square and surrounding area is still sheilded off with enormous sheeting from traffic and curious ambulance chasing sticky-beakers... very eerie.
anyhow, what kind of jihad extremist blows up edgware road station? you can't move on edgware road without tripping over a muslim/arab? it's madness....
C. went flat hunting for a studio place of his own and finally settled on one in Highgate. so packing was done, a van was booked and on hot steamy saturday we packed up the plantation and schlepped it up the Archway Road. so as i sat amid a pile of flatpack and allen keys C. constructed his new lamps. they needed bulbs so he headed out to the local shops to get some while i persevered with what appeared to be some kind of bedroom shed but finally turned into the promised ottoman he wanted in the end. when he got back he'd also managed to buy the most luxurious faux fur throw and cushions i have ever seen. it's difficult to describe the colour: imagine a lone timber wolf crossing the snow in very early morning light - well it's something like that. and imagine the deepest of fur then times it by 5. really quite special! soon the place was looking really homely and had C.s stamp on it too which is whole idea after sharing with other people for so long. it's gonna look great. also it's really lovely up there, all leafy green and suburban... and so quiet - even the birds seem to twitter more discreetly. i really like it - in fact, if i could transport my place 5 minutes up the hill i'd be living there myself. makes holloway look like the absolute shithole it truly is. no abandoned washing machines on the pavement or groups of wannabe gangsta hoodie kids loafing about in the middle of the road showing off the latest in synthetic fibre track suits. Actually i'm exagerating somewhat - i'm just smarting a bit from adjusting to being on my own in the flat again. give us a week and we'll have sorted a routine that suits us both again... i'm calling this Phase 3; each phase has been better than the one before it so things can only get better [pictures of Linda La Hughes singing that on the South Bank the night Labour got into power and she got fingered by Peter Mandelson! ah, happy days].

like this but then again not...
sunday was home shopper extravaganza. thankfully most of the stores on TCR have sales on and C. managed to get some great bargains. back and perused the purchases [first prize goes to a Soda Syphon! how very retro but how very NOW!] then down to the Thai for our tea. not as good as usual - perhaps there'd been some huge family row that afternoon and everyone that worked there was a still a bit moody so the service was bit off. food was till good though.
having an evening to myself tonight [too wierd] and tomorrow we're going to see Chicago again. Brooke Shields is in it as Roxie at the moment and that has to be worth the price of a ticket at least, so looking forward to that. and thursday is first rehearsals with The Wifes for the shows at the end of the month. i wonder how they'll take to the new explosive guitar sound i've been developing on the POD since our morrissey thing at the coronet. tin helmets all round i think....

look! it's Brooke!
